"ROM Chocolate" Avertisement
I have chosen to talk about the newest ROM advertisement. It is about one of the most interesting marketing strategy.
Initially the commercial was all about the “Romanian dream”. People should have bought ROM chocolate only because it was “authentically Romanian” and nothing more. And, indeed, it is a 100% Romanian product. But now, surprisingly, everything has changed. It isn’t the “Romanian dream” anymore; it is the “American dream”. Or, at least, this is what we are tempted to think at a first sight. I think that the whole idea, the entire strategy, is to make Romanian people aware of what they still have as an authentic mark. To make people aware that they still have ROM, but not the “Taste of Coolness”; they have “Strong sensation. Romanian”. It is a campaign meant to raise the spirit of a true Romanian nationalism, giving the American example. At first, this advertisement gives you the impression that ROM is really going to become an American product. False. It is just marketing strategy to raise the Romanian spirit, the Romanian nationalism.
I, personally, think that it is a great campaign, a wonderful idea, a good marketing strategy. It really made me furious at first, but than, realizing the message sent, I became a real fan of this idea.
